CROQUET WINNER

AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP Last year's champion, Mrs. Cole, of the Mount Eden Club, won the senior championship of the Auckland Croquet Association at the Mount Hobson green yesterday. Mrs. Cole won in two straignt games from Mrs. Clarke, of Mount Hobson and Hillsborough. She won the first game in an hour, making two all-round breaks. Mrs. Clarke had the advantage for a while in the second game, but her opponent again gained possession and clinched the match in two straightout breaks. In the intermediate singles championship Mrs. Breckon beat Mrs. Bardell in two games. Mrs. I. Finch, president of the association, presented the prizes as follows: —Senior singles championship: Mrs. Cole (Mount Eden), winner; Mrs. Clarke (Mount Hobson and Hillsboro), runnerup. Senior doubles championship: Mcsdamcs Cole and Smith (Mount Eden), winners; Mrs. Baker and Miss Keatley (Carlton), runners-up. Intermediate singles championship: Mrs. Breckon (Papatoetoe), winner; Mrs. Bardell (Carlton), runner-up. Junior singles championship: Mrs. Knowles (Mangere East), winner; Mrs. Barlow (Papatoetoe), runner-up. Junior doubles championship: Mesdames Knowles and Wadsworth (Mangere East), winnei's; Mesdames Edgerley and Gedye (Onehunga), runners-up.
