FOR WOMEN TO-DAY'S WEDDING
HAWKES—KNIGHT
EARLY VICTORIAN GOWN
At St. Aidan's Church Remuera, the marriage took place this afternoon, of Miss Pauline Louise Knight, only daughter of Mr. C. W. Knight, of Takapuna, to Sergeant Graeme Bradshaw Hawkes, New Zealand Medical Corps, returned on furlough from the Middle East, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hawkes, of Onerahi, Whangarei. Canon R. L. Connolly performed the ceremony, and during the service Mrs. Oscar Natzke sang "O, Promise Me."
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming early Victorian gown of ivory mottled taffeta, made with a long-waisted bodice and full skirt. She wore a net veil, hand embroidered with Brussels lace, and held in place with waterlily buds, and she carried a bouquet of water lilies. The bridesmaid, Miss Kathleen Darlow, wore a white georgette frock, with a full skirt, and carried a pastel pink bouquet., with a spray to match on her head. Sergeant Andrew Caverhill, of Christchurch, also on furlough, was best man. A reception was afterwards held at the home of Mrs. C. M. Richwhite, Ranui Road, Mount Eden. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Ernest Craig, wore a black and grey ensemble, and a cream spray. Mrs. Hawkes was in a dusky pink suit, with a spray of red roses, and Mrs. C. W. Knight chose a navy ensemble, [ accented by a pink and blue spray.
