FORMALLY RESIGNED
Argentine Presidency Vacated By General Ramirez NO NEW ISSUE RAISED Noon. BUENOS AYRES, Mar. 10. General riamirez tias formally resigned the Presidency of Argentina in a communication to General Farrell.
The Associated Press says the resignation has placed General Farrell in a difficult position, because he has so far contended that General Ramirez merely delegated his authority on account of ill-health. Consequently no new issue can be raised concerning the recognition of Argentina by other nations.
Following an earlier report that General Ramirez had resigned because lie was "exhausted by Government work, it was stated on February 26 that an armed coup had forced him out of office, and that he was succeeded by the vice-President, General Farrell. General Farrell, it was said, was opposed to the break in relations with the Axis. Later reports hinted that General Farrell's assumption of office was merely temporary. Argentina s foreign nolicv caused much anxiety, especially in the United States, where it was feared that she might try to alienate the other Latin American republics and foim a South American bloc.
