YUGOSLAV ISLAND
Nazis State Anglo-American Commandos On Lissa
IjED BY "GENERAL" CHURCHILL
British Official Wireless Rec. 12.30 p.m. RUGBY, Mar. 10. The German news agency says an Anglo-American commando force of 1500 strong is ndw installed on the Yugoslav island of Lissa, off the Dalmatian coast, and that the force is commanded by a British general named Churchill. There is no confirmation of this from any Allied source. It has already been announced that Captain Randolph Churchill, son of the Prime Minister, is in Yugoslavia, where he contacted Tito. The German commentator, Praegner broadcasting from Berlin, named "General Tom Churchill" as commander. He said Churchill went to Lissa (also known as Vis) a few days ago. "The commandos in the future may attempt raids against places on the Dalmatian coast, also Dalmatian islands. Their present task is to make Lissa a safe supply base and guard the supplies for Tito, which the British and Americans are depositing."
