Though gross profit of the E.S. and A. Bank. Ltd., for the year ended June 30 was £111,895 lower, the fall in charges exceeded this amount. Expenses fell by £89,082 and taxation fcy £40,148; consequently net profit, as already reported by cable, increased by £ 18,235. •An increase of £6,387.044 in deposits was due almost entirely to additions to current accounts, resulting from further expansion of credit for war, the report states. Cash items decreased by £2,113,418 because these funds could be employed to greater advantage without detracting from liquidity. A new item, money at call in London. £1,325,000, Is a result. Despite the restrictions on advances, this item increased by £920,216.
