S.M. GIVES PROBATION
The story of how a New Zealand soldier, Matirice Walter Luxford T. hompson, 46, took three £5 notes from the clothing of another serviceman who was occupying a bed at the Carrie Hostel in the city, and was caught by that serviceman with the money in his hand was told by the police to Mr. W. C. Harley S M to-day. ''
Thompson, through Mr. Noble pleaded guilty, and a request for eniency was based on the fact that he had had no benefit from the money. He had served three years m the Great War and 4i vears on home service in this.
lie was admitted to probation for six months.
