FIRST YEAR PUPILS
PROBLEM AT COLLEGE "The proportion of first year pupils in attendance at day classes in the Seddon Memorial Technical College is. unfortunately, usually half the toial enrolment." stated the principal, Mr. G. J. Park, in his annual report. "It is more than likely that action will be taken by the . Government, at least as far as Auckland is concerned, to ensure that pupils wi'o are to take not more than one year's education above the primary school stage will be requir*d to take that year in an intermediate school. It seems certain that this college will not be ablp >o continue to accept pupils for such short periods." Mr. Park stated that the roll on March 1 this year stood at 1557. but had fallen by December 1 io 3202. The numbers on March 1 included S3'J first year pupils, ."Oti second year, and 2-19 third year or over.
