MR. CHURCHILL TALKS

Unshaken Unity Of British

And Americans N.Z. Press Association —Copyright Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 10. Mr. Churchill held an "off the record" Press conference at the British Embassy in Cairo to-day. He appeared to be in the best of health and was very cheerful. He paid a tribute to the complete and unshaken unity of the British and Americans and emphasised the significance of the historic decisions taken at the recent conference. He discussed the Balkans, Turkey, Japan and the Russian fronts, tne Pacific front, the Italian front, the U-boat war, British and American relations, the bombing offensive, liberty of the subject and the tradition of 'habeas corpus, also touching on the German internal situation, postwar supplies for Europe and Asia and the over-riding necessity for speed in the prosecution of the war. With flashes of humour, the Prime Minister made no attempt to conceal his confidence in total victory, *jut emphasied that much remained to be done. After the interview, replying to the thanks of the Press, he said: "I was once a foreign correspondent myself. I know the difficulties of getting news, then trying to get it away. You are all part of the good cause and the cause is not doing so badly." Mr. Churchill and Mr. Eden called on King Farouk at Abdin Palace on Wednesday, and to-day Mr. Churchill received King Peter of Yugoslavia, also Emir Abdullah of Iraq.
