CANTERBURY HAY CROPS
Concern is being expressed by dairy farmers in Canterbury over the fodder position for next winter. They say that hay prospects are most unsatisfactory. This has followed a long winter, which used up reserve stocks, and the late spring, which delayed grass growth. Many farmers have had to use the grass as it came on, with the result that little has been available for hay. An officer from the Department of Agriculture said that farmers would be wise to save all the hay they could, as it would be needed next winter.
