AUCKLAND CITY CORPORATION , ■ i WATER RESTRICTIONS WATER RESTRICTIONS In view of the acute position in regard to the supply of water, notice is hereby given to all consumers that they must at once reduce their consumption to the absolute minimum. At the present rate of draw-off, if no heavy rain eventuates, the reserves of stored water will be ALMOST EXHAUSTED. To keep the mams charged with water so as to maintain fire •protection and also save the public the necessity of carrying water, domestic consumption MUST. BE REDUCED TO 8 GALLONS PER HEAD, which includes the flushing of the lavatory, ablutions, bath, washing and cooking. If this is observed the supply to essential industries, including foodstuffs, : war requirements' and to hospitals, will be maintained. The amount used by non-essential industries MUST BE REDUCED TO ONE-THIRD OF NORMAL CONSUMPTION. Automatic flushing cisterns in office blocks, hotels and elsewhere must be shut off completely,, and fittings cleaned at intervals by bucket and mop. If these instructions are not observed it will be necessary to shut off completely from every household, and water will then be rationed from street stand pipes. This order applies over the whole of the City area and the local bodies south of the harbour supplied by the City, viz., Mount Eden, Mount Albert, Newmarket, New Lynn, Mount Wellington, Glen Eden, Henderson, Titirangi and Swanson. JAMES MELLING. Town Clerk.
