MOTHERS' DAY RALLY
Under the auspices of the Women's Christian Temperance Union a wellattended meeting of women was held on Mothers' Day in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. Inspiring addresses were -given by Mrs. Emily Dowsett on reconstruction of noble womanhood, wifehood, motherhood, the basis being a realisation of the meaning of love revealed in Calvary; and by Miss Annie McLay, on "There came a woman"—a brief survey of the "Genesis" and work of the World's Women's Christian Temperance Union, and of the service rendered to mankind down through the ages by consecrated women. Mrs. J. W. Long, district president, presided. Sacred solos were sung by Mesdames McMahon and McKnight, and a quintet of Maori "Y" girls sang "My Mother's Prayer."
