TAKAPUNA CLUB
VERY SATISFACTORY YEAR
At the annual general meeting of the Takapuna Club the annual report and balance-sheet disclosed that a keen and lively interest had been taken during the year by members. There has been a steady increase m membership, including many returned men of the Second N.Z.E.I-. The usual social activities have been well maintained, and the reports from the various sub-commit-tees showed what healthy, spirited co-operation could achieve. The financial position is sound, and the club has a splendid asset unencumbered, in its hall, a great achievement in the short space of seven years. The Poppy Day Fund will receive a welcome increase this vear a record, due to the splendid response-of the public. Relief and visits to the sick members were faithfully carried out. The club acknowledged the services rendered by the ex-pnesident of the Auckland R'SA Mr. "Bill" Kendall, by unanimously voting him a life member. The ladies and valued helpers were responsible for knitting and handing over for patriotic purposes 243 articles during the year. The following office-bearers were elected for 1943-44: —

P. ■ Reston; committee, Messrs. S. E. James, HGolder, F Bray G. Little, H. N. Bayhss, W. Aitken and R. Pilkington; steward, Mr. S E. James; assistant steward. Mr. w. A Donald; custodian, Mr. A. S. Collms; librarian and reporter, Mr. P. LamD.
