TWO YOUTHS BEFORE COURT
Two youths, Stanley James Harvey, factory hand (17), and Selwyn Edward Reed, labourer (18), appeared before justices in the Police Court this morning, each charged with stealing from a postal packet on May 1 a 10/ note, the property of the Postmaster-General. In asking for a remand until May 14 Senior-Detective Walsh said the two accused were arrested by Detective Orchard at the Green Lane Post Office about 10 o'clock last night. "There has been an epidemic of thefts from post ..office boxes and street letter boxes over a period, added Mr. Walsh. "These two youths will eventually be charged with about 20 offences of stealing from postal boxes." Both were remanded, bail being fixed at a surety of £100 in each.case.
