TOMATOES IX DEMAND A good demand existed for choice outdoor tomatoes at the city markets to-day. Hothouse grapes were a little easier; fairly large quantities were offering. Passion fruit and tree tomatoes were keenly sought. Vegetables in season were forward in good supplies, with prices showing little variation from earlier in the week. Cauliflowers were dearer. Carrots sold at lower rates. . .Vegetables.— Beet, 1/ to 2/ per dozen (3/ case); celery, cooking. 1/5 to 2/6 per bundle: dessert, 2/9 to 5/3: carrots, 3/ to 5/ per bag: cauliflowers, 6/6 to 20/ per sack; cabbages, 10/ to 26/6; cucumbers, 6/ to 9/6 per dozen; French Deans, 4/ to 13/6 per bag: stringless beans. 15/6 to 27/6; green peas, 10/ to 33/; kumaras (Tauranga), 4/ to 8/; local, 10/ to 15/; leeks, 1/3 to 1/9 per bundle; lettuce. 4/6 to 17/ per case; marrows, 2/ to 4/ per sack; melons, citrons, 6/ to 10/; onions, 16/ per cwt; potatoes, 10/6; pumpkins, good, Crown, 10/ to 21/; others, 2/ to 12/ per sack; parsnips, 21/ per cwt; Radish, ,6d to 1/6 per dozen; rhubarb, 6/ to 10/6; spinach, 1/6 to 2/6; spring onions, 1/ to 3/ per bundle; swedes, 2/6 to 4/6 per bag: turnips, 12/ per cwt; Brussels sprouts, Slid to per lb.
