N.Z. LOAN LIQUIDATED

According to the London Daily Mail the £16,000,000 of New Zealand per cent loan, 1939-45, the bulk of which was taken up by the powerful syndicate of British banks headed by the Bank of England In August, 1939 (following the arrangement concluded between Mr. Montagu Norman and Mr. Nash, the New Zealand Finance Minister), has now, it is an open secret, been liquidated, tho banks having finally disposed of all their holdings. The price hi the market is about £100 12/6, against the issue price of £99, and of the original £16,000,000 only £6,000,000 is now outstanding. The issue was made to provide for maturity of a loan of similar amount maturing on January 1, 1940, for which fresh accommodation was needed, and market conditions were not propitious for' a normal offering.
