N.Z. GIFTS TO U.S.A.

(p.A. WELLINGTON, Thursday. Two New Zealand gifts—a necklace for Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Roosevelt, and a trophy in the form of a cup for the Disabled Veterans' Association of America — were handed to Mr. Nash, New Zealand Minister to Washington, to-day for presentation to the recipients on his return to America. The necklace is from the New Zealand Disabled Servicemen's Re-establish-ment League and the trophy from the Wellington branch of that organisation. ~ . , The gifts were formally accepted by the Prime Minister, Mr. Eraser, at Parliament House, and in turn handed to Mr. Nash. Mr C. W. Batten, president ot the New Zealand Disabled Servicemen's Re-establishment League, presented the necklace, and the president of the Wellington branch of the league, Mr. J. Murray, presented the trophy. Mr. Raymond E. Cox, Charge d'Affairs at the United States Legation, said he was convinced that Mrs. Roosevelt would be much touched by the thought and kindness of the New Zealand disabled soldiers.

The Mayoress, Mrs. J. A. C. Allum, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. T. H. Dow, left to-day for Gisborne.
