UNDUE DELAY
YOUTH PROSECUTED
COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE "This undue delay in prosecuting is inconsistent. If he is absent from essential work, why not act. immediately?" said Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when a Yugoslav youth, Luka Mile Musin, was charged with a breach of the Emergency Regulations. Mr. T. G. Fielder', assistant district manpower officer, said that on November 24 last Musin made application to terminate his employment with Tattersfield, Ltd. He was refused permission, and, on December 15, he left his work and obtained employinent at a cafe. In reply to the magistrate's comment, Mr. Fielder said that prosecutions were brought at the instance of the Minister of / Manpower. He undertook, however, to have his Worship's remarks brought to the notice of the authorities.
The case "was adjourned for a week to enable Musin to obey the manpower officer's instructions to return to work.
