LEASE-LEND AID
Forty Per Cent Of U.S. Planes Received By Russia SHIPMENTS TO SOVIET RISE Rec. 9.30 WASHINGTON, May 6. Lease-lend aid to the Allies has passed the billion dollars mark since the programme began in March, 1941. Russia has received 40 per cent of the planes exported, the United Kingdom 25, and North Africa 16. The shipments to Russia have increased 35 per cent in the last quarter compared with the preceding quarter and more than double those of the first quarter of 1942. The total shipments were divided as follows:—United Kingdom, 3,116,835,000 dollars; Russia, 1,825,477,000; North Africa, and the Middle East, 1,039,763,000; China, India, New Zealand and Australia, 891,725,000. The Lease-Lend Administrator, Mr. 1 Edward Stettinius, states that leaselend exports during March reached a record high level of more than £176,000,000. This was 20 per cent i higher than the previous monthly record.
