N.Z. AIRMEN PRAISED
OFFICERS FROM CANADA UNIFORM TRAINING SCHEME (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. With a view to co-ordinating fully the training methods of the Canadian and New Zealand sections of the Empire air training scheme,..four Royal Canadian Air Force officers, Squadron-Leaders J. A. Sherrett, E. T. Mileski: and G. J. Mitchell and Flight-Lieutenant W. Reid, have arrived in New Zealand. It is anticipated that.they will remain in the Dominion for about a year, during which time they will visit all R.N.Z.A.F. training establishments. The visiting Canadian officers are widely experienced and prominent in instructional staffs of R.C.A.F. establishments, handling and training New Zealand airmen in Canada. Speaking in high praise of the physical, educational and moral standard of New Zealand airmen arriving in Canada for training, the officers stated that both the Canadian public and the R.C.A.F. were deeply impressed with the type offering for service in the R.N.Z.A.F. Besides being well thought of in Canada, the New Zealanders created an excellent impression on the Americans.
Discussing the air training scheme the officers described it as a tremendous success. Nevertheless, the controlling authorities were not prepared to let the scheme rest on its laurels, and there was constant research into means of increasing its efficiency. It was to benefit the scheme and examine training methods of the R.N.Z.A.F. that the present visit was undertaken.
