CONTROL OF TAXIS

— a — Arrangements for a single taxicab telephone call system, under the control of the Auckland Taxicab Control Committee, in the place of the system at present operated by the Atta and Checker organisations, have been completed by Mr. H. D. Smith, chief clerk of the Transport Department.' The plan is to be submitted to the Minister of Transport, Mr. O'Brien. The chairman of the committee, Mr. Lisle Alderton, said the new system would be put into operation as soon as the Minister's approval was received. The roster would be in operation shortly.
