MAN'S FATAL FALL
COMPANION INJURED
ACCIDENT AT WHARF SHED
Fatal injuries were received by an electrician in the employ of the Auckland Harbour Board, and a companion was injured when both fell from a roof on 'the waterfront shortly before 11 o'clock this morning. The victims were:— Killed Mr. Joseph Taylor, aged about 58, ' married, electrician, of Shelly Park, Howick, suffered a fracture of the skull. He died shortly after admission to the Auckland Hospital. Injured Mr Gordon Harold Ivassell, aged 50, married, also an electrician in the employ of the Auckland Harbour Board, of 50, Hinemoa Avenue, Devonport, suffered a fracture of the left leg. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital.
Both men were working on the roof of a shed on the Northern wharf, when part of the roofing gave way under them and they fell about 20ft to the wharf. They were taken to the Auckland Hospital by a St. John ambulance. ( An inquest will be held.
