NEW. DIVORCE RULES
FAILURE TO MAKE OPERATIVE
(By Telegraph.—-Parliamentary Reporter). WELLINGTON, this day. "Will the Minister inform the House why the new divorce rules, as prepared by the rules committee under section 3 of thtr Judicature Amendment Act, 1930, and sent to the executive in March, 1942, have not yet been gazetted?" was the text of a question, notice of which was given to the Minister of Justice by Mr. Harker (National, Waipawa), in the House of Representatives yesterday.
"The existing rules," said Mr. Harker, "do not make provision for the amendments to the Divorce Act passed in recent years, and the failure to make the new rules operative is occasioning great hardship to the Judiciary, to counsel, and to litigants." Mr. Schramm (Government, Auckland East), with some warmth: Nothing of the sort.
Opposition members: How do you know?
Mr: Schramm (emphatically): I know.
