HERALD OF SUMMER

Aucklanders were again favoured with a fine spring Sunday. Despite restrictions on travel large crowds of people managed to find their way to the beaches. Swimmers were numerous and sunbathers were able to gain their preliminary coat of tan. Buses, boats and tramcars were packed with holiday-makers, pleased to forsake the indoors, and the long queue of motor cars at the vehicular ferry wharf testified to the fact that precious petrol had been saved up for a sunny day.
