ESSENTIAL WORKERS!

Under the national service emergency regulations, the Minister of Labour is empowered to fix by order in respect of workers employed in essential undertakings a minimum weekly wage, to which such workers shall be entitled while so employed An order has now been issued. The order provides that workers in the undertakings concerned shall be entitled to a minimum weekly wage, exclusive of any overtime, bonus or other special payments, of an amount equivalent to the worker's ordinary weekly earnings, but not exceeding £5 10/ for an adult male worker, i' 2 16 6 for an adult female, and £1 15/ for a junior worker.
Where a female worker is employed in substitution for a male.and is performing the work and receiving the remuneration of an adult male worker, she shall, for the purposes of the order, be deemed to be an adult male worker.
