RAIN ON TWENTY DAYS The rainfall during the past month than is usual for August, ana there was less sunshine. The total rainfall on 20 days was 6.33 in, while 5.2 r m was recorded.in August, 1941," on an equal number of days. The heaviest fall was 1.34 in on August 12. A total of 141 hours of sunshine was recorded, this being about 30 hours lower than last year. Five days were without sun. The heaviest frost this season was recorded on the first day of the month, when the grass reading was 25 degrees. The mean temperature for the month of 55.99 degrees, the mean maximum of 59.59 degrees, and the extreme maximum Gf 64.5 degrees, were all well ahead of the corresponding recordings of August, 1941, but the extreme minimum of 37.4 degrees on August 1 was three degrees lower. The mean barometric pressure for the month was 29.893 in, about the same as t>»t for last year. Winds last month were mostly from the east and west and were moderate in force, though there was a F strong wind on August 7. Dew fell" on'six days.
