Reports received in Istanbul from Vienna state that United States Flying Fortresses made a recent highlevel daylight attack on the important industrial centre of WienerNeustadt, near Vienna. During the following two days Vienna had five alerts, but no bombs were dropped. The Germans recently transferred many war factories from the Ruhr to Wiener-Neustadt,
Wiener-Neustadt, with a population of over 40,000, is an industrial town about 30 miles south-west of Vienna. It is chiefly engaged in the manufacture of locomotives, machinery and iron Roods. It. also has brass and pottery works, as well as flour mills. Wiener-Xeusuult is famous for its military academy founded by Maria Theresa, of Austria, and its many fine old Gothic buildings.
