(0.C.) WHANGAREI, this dav The Whangarei E.P.S. Committee rw ni frJ dec ? ded to Join the Joint Central Committee set up by countv and town board delegates last week appointing Messrs. D. L. Smedlev S J. Snow and T. Mitchell as the town representatives.
The borough chairman, Mr W Jones, did not think the central com--1 wou 'd make tuppence worth of difference, except for saving a few phone calls. Although weakened bv Departmental slowness in providing manpower, the Borough E.P.S could operate as successfully as any in New Zealand.
Mr..Trimmer; who is chairman of the joint committee, and Mr. J A S Mackay, county chairman, "disputed Mr Jones contentions that the whole control of the district E.P.S. would paSS i^ t( i .loint committee, which would be able to commit local bodies to expenditure. uieb
