PATRIOTIC WEEK

SUM OF £2100 RAISED

EFFORT AT WHAXGAREI (0.C.) WHANG AREI, this day Whangarei's patriotic week, which concluded on Saturday, raised in the vicinity of £2100, over half of this amount being in direct contributions toward's the borough's allocation of £7000 in the All Purposes Appeal, 1942.

Many hundreds of people attended the snorts meeting on Saturday afternoon, and a similar number was attracted to the finale, a patriotic dance in the Town Hall in the evening. The two functions together realised more than £100. Half of this amount was raised at the sports meeting.

One of the features of the afternoon was a girls' marching competition. The St. John Ambulance team with 244 points was first, the W.W.S.A. team. 242 points was second, and the Red Cross team with 236 points was third.
