NEWS OF AIRMAN

Cabled advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Burgess, of 80 Glenfield Road, Birkenhead, that their son, Leading-Aircraftman Burgess, a member of the New Zealand Fighter Squadron, previously stationed at the civilian aerodrome at Kallang, Singapore, is safe and well m Australia. Leading-Aircraft-man Burgess was born in Birkenhead and was educated at the Birkenhead Primary School, the Northcote District High School and the Seddon Memorial Technical College. After serving his apprenticeship as a fitterarmourer, he joined the air force early in 1941, and underwent trainling at Harewood, Christchurch, and left for overseas. An elder brother is at present training in Canada as an tir observer.
