MESSAGE TO N.Z.E.F. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The following message has been sent by the 1 Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall, to Major-General Freyberg, V.C.:— "I send you and all ranks under your command my best wishes for Christmas and New Year. The 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, by the great part it has played in the present campaign, has once more earned the admiration of the whole world and proved that it is worthy of the highest traditions of the Empire. You will, I know, answer every call with equal gallantry and determination."
