Sydney Comment On Skipton's Derby Win
Rec. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, this day. Commenting on the Victoria Derby, the Sydney Morning Herald says:—ln the matter of class, the Derby candidates did not rank high, but Skipton might be a much better colt than his win would make him appear. In the battle in the straight with the AJ.C. Derby winner Laureate, Skipton did not take long to assert his superior stamina. He won convincingly. Referring to the Mackinnon Stakes, the Herald stated, It was little more than an exercise gallop for Beau Vlte, who has won the last six weight-for-age races In which he has started. The same newspaper anticipates a win for Beau Vlte In the Melbourne Cup to-morrow.
