TWO-YEAR JOURNEY

SHIPMENT OF SAWS

SWEDEN TO AUCKLAND

Many importers are meeting with great difficulty in getting shipments from overseas countries. A case in point was mentioned this morning by one of the principals of an Auckland firm which placed an order with a Swedish firm for 250 hand saws over two years ago.

The firm has now received advice that the shipment has reached Sydney after an extraordinary journey. 'It appears that the saws were sent from Sweden to Finland and then travelled across Siberia. Eventually they reached New "iork. and the next stage of their journey was shipment from there to Sydney. The Auckland firm placed the order in Sweden in July, 1939, and had long given up the consignment as lost. There are now hopes that it will soon come to hand and open up in good condition.
