LEAGUE'S ANNUAL MEETING

The Auckland branch of the League for the Hard of Hearing held its annual meeting in the Myers' The president, Mrs. D. W. Dunlop, presided. A fine exhibition of sewing and knitting done in the last few weeks by the Lady Galway Sewing Guild was held. It was reported that the classes in lip reading had continued regularly, and that hard of hearing students derived much benefit from this method of overcoming their handicap. At the Wednesday evening social the younger members had enjoyed classes in physical culture, folk dancin,g and signalling, besides games and ballroom dancing. About once a month Sunday services were held for the hard of hearing. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. D. W. Dunlop; vice-presidents, Mrs. J. Hardie Neil, Mrs. C. H. Tewsley, Mrs. F. J. Gwynne; secretary, Mrs. Eric Macdonald; treasurer, Miss I. Mackie; committee, Lady Robertson, Mesdames C. B. Plummer, A. E. Ford, J. L. Schischka, J. R. Brendel, Misses B. Carnahan, M. E. Shutes and Dr. J. Hardie Neil. I
