Climax to Ten Days Of Almost Continuous Rain DEATH AND DESTRUCTION Rec. 10..-0 a.m. TOKYO. July 22. Manv lives were lost and Thousands "of homes flooded when a tvphoon hit Shizuoka. S r > mile-; south-west of Yokohama, after 10 days of almost continuous rain. Shizuoka bore the brunt of the storm, where .'?"j lives were lost, many were injured and 20,000 homes were inundated. In the Tokvo area there were ?,'> deaths and 12.C00 homes were flooded. Casualties among fishing boats are expected to be - ery high. Crops were inundated ar.d services disorganised. The Weather Bureau has predicted that by tomorrow night the rainfall would be the heaviest in Tokyo's hi.-tory.
