CHAMPION RIFLE SHOT

The stationmaster at Taumarunui. Mr. H. Simmonds, has been appointed on promotion to be stationmaster at Dunedin. He has been in the Auckland district for some years, having been stationmaster at" Paeroa and recently traflic inspector for the district.
Mr. Simmonds is better known throughout the Dominion as a champion rifle shot. In 1924 he won the Champion Rifle Belt, and in 1924 and the following year took the Service championship. He also won the Grand Aggregate prize in 1924, 1925 and 1926. In 1931 he took the Rifle Challenge Cup. During his term in Auckland Mr. Simmonds took a prominent interest in rifle clubs and assisted the young marksmen.
Mr. W. F. O'Shaughnessy. of Wellington. takes Mr. Simmond's place at Taumarunui. Mr. F. C. \\*ilson of Wanganui. comes to Auckland as train running officer.
