BRITISH PURCHASE
ALL SURPLUS BACON 8000 TONS INVOLVED (0.C.) • HAMILTON, this day. Advice has been received by Mr. \V. A. Phillips, chairman of the New Zealand Pig Marketing Association, that arising out of Great Britain's recent agreement to purchase an increased tonnage of this season's meat, the British Ministry of Food has agreed to the inclusion of all baconer stock on hand as at April 12. This requires approximately 8000 tons, and disposes of the difficulty which would otherwise have arisen in respect of next season's bacon produce had it been necessary to consume the existing stock on the local market.
