The leading towns are:—Auckland district, Whitford; Blenheim district, Ward; Christchurcli district, Waiau; Dunedin district, Owaka; Gisborne district, Te Araroa; Greymouth district, Ross; Hamilton district, Te Anga; Invercargill district, Waikaka; Napier district, Porangahau; Nelson district, Murchjson; New Plymouth district, Awakino; Oamaru district, Kurow; Palmerston North district, Weber; Thames district, Whakatane; Timaru district, Geraldine; Wanganui district, Waitotara; Wellington district, Alfredton; Westport district, Westport.
