BRITISH RAILWAYS.
Amalgamation Into One Great
Combine Planned.
LONDON PRESS REPORT
(Reed, noon.)
LONDON, Mar. 24
The amalgamation of Britain's railways into one great combine under a single supreme control has been approved in principle by the British Government, says the "Daily Express." The Ministry of Transport is working out practical details.
It is understood the question of financial settlement will be left until after the war. This indicates that the unification plan is intended to be permanent. The plan will eliminate the overlapping of and competition between services, and will result in considerable saving.
