Constable Monson said Sorich was a Yugoslav and had expressed the view ,b,t lie did not know for whom he -honhl light- - Yugoslavia or Britain. Hi*- father had considered that, although his son was born in New Zealand, he virtually beionged to \ ugoslavia. The father. A. Sorich. said the question anise that, should his son go to Kurope whether he would be called upon to light for his own country or Britain. He had no objection to his son serving in the forces, provided he knew for whom he would be required to serve. Mr. Freeman: When you are in New Zealand you abide by New Zealand laws. It is perfectly obvious that you are preventing your son from enrolling. A fine of £ 1 in the case of the father was imposed, while the son was filled ill and ordered to pay costs.
