INQUEST VERDICT.

ACCIDENT Ala DROWNING. A verdict or accidental drowning was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, this morning, at the inquest concerning the death of Alexander Leonard Baker, a single man, aged 22, a farmer, of Waimauku, at Brown's .Bay on Saturday last. The evidence showed that deceased, who was with two other men in a dinghy at Brown's Bay, dived overboard into 7ft of water and was drowned. He was unable to swim. Unsuccessful efforts I were made by his companions to effect a > rescue.
