NO SATISFACTION.

ARRESTED BRITONS.

Grave View Taken Of Activities

In Rumania.

(Reed. 12.30 p.m.)

RUGBY, Oct. 3.

Despite assurances by General Antonescu, Prime Minister of Rumania, following Lord Halifax's strong representations to the Rumanian Minister in London last Sunday, five British subjects are still under arrest in Bucharest, and no satisfaction has been received as to their treatment.

Meanwhile, it is confirmed in London that another British subject, Mr. A. Miller, was imprisoned in Bucharest by persons in civilian clothes, who were doubtless members of the Iron Guard, and that the Rumanian police profess, apparently quite genuinely, complete ignorance of his fate.

Lord Halifax is pursuing continuous inquiries and is losing no opportunity in explaining the grave view of Britain regarding the series of incidents, which are considered intolerable aa between civilised countries.

It remains to be seen how far General Antonescu will be able or willing to control the activities of irresponsible mem here of the Iron Guard, who appear to be influenced only by their desire to imitate Nazi methods.
