WEIGHTS DECLARED.

CHIEF FLAT RACES. FORM OF CANDIDATES. Good nominations have been-received by the Matauwta. Rat-ing Club for its winter meeting, to be held at Mu.ua mat a on Saturday week, and the fields should be in ke('i»iig with them. The chief flat event i« the Matamata Centennial Handicap, for which eighteen have bevu entered. Gold Vaals, the topwciglit, lias U.O, but this should not seriously inconvenience him if at bis best for this season he has won the Tauranga Cup, the Ohinemuri Cup, ihe Foley Memorial Handicap at Avondale, while he wae second in the President'.! Handicap at WalKato and In the York Handicap at Kll.»rslie, In his last start, the Southern Queen.. Handicap, at Te Rape, he failed to show up. Hot Box (8.0) was.fourth In the last-named event after winning over a mile and a quarter at Te Awamutu. The former won the Cornwall Handicap, one mile and a quarter, on the ftret day at Ellerelle, with 7.5. heating among others Gold Vaale (8.13), Jack Tar (8.9), Hot Box (7.11), Jayola and Erlick (7.3). On the final day Erlick won the York Handicap with 7.5 from Gold Vaala (8.12) and Flying Acre (7.3), while Jack Tar (8.6) and Vulmlnt (8.0}) were In tne ruck. Erlick is racing at Trentham this week, and his form there may, perhaps, shed some further light on his prospects. Valntlnt does not usually race well away from home. She will again have to be reckoned with. Coronation. Calorie and Eastern Heir have 8.2. and Calorie appeals most of this trio. Requiem and Mon Acre come In on lib lese. The former showed up earlier in the season, while Mon Acre was third over a mile at the Whangarei fixture in April last. Of those on the minimum Nuipapa and Hunr»r - s Night (both recent winners) and Hunting Blood seem the b«>st. Young Pnddon. To Monowai. Erlick. Val Lu anil Hunter's Night may linve most friende at present.
