PRICE OF MEAT.
UP |D LB ALL ROUND. TRIBUNAL'S APPROVAL. OPERATIVE ON MONDAY. (By Telegraph— parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. An all-round increase of id per lb in the retail prices of meat has been approved by the Price Tribunal, to operate from Monday next, July 1. This is announced on behalf of the Minister of Supply, the Hon, D. Sullivan, who explains, the importance of a-oiding any complicated method of the supervision of . stock, auction prices the winter which might debar farmers from adequate compensation for the extra cost of producing fat stock during the later winter and spring. Tho' Price Tribunal recognises that fresh meat prices rise-, sharply in the winter, but points out that the halfpenny increase it approves is a permissive, not an obligatory increase. Bacon and other goods known as small goods are excluded -from the scope of the order.
