WILL BE ZONED.

Nash, intimated to-day that the bread-making. industry' has been declared a controlled industry under the Supply Control Emergency Regulations, At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Master Bakers and Pastrycooks' Association a request was made to the Government to this effect, and approval was subsequently given by the Minister of Supply, the. Hon. D. Sullivan. Sir. Nash added that the wheat and flour industries had been operating as controlled industries for some years under the administration of the Wheat Committee, and it seemed logical to extend the necessary supervision to the -bread-making industry. One of the first benefits likely to accrue was the zoning of deliveries, with a resultant saving in motor spirit. In the meantime the status quo of all bakers would be. retained, but there were provisions; the regulations for the sales or. transfers'' of businesses to bo effected. The .scheme in general would bo administered by the Wheat and Flour Controller, acting in conjunction with a select committee appointed from' employers and employees.
