LOVED BY ALL.

PUBLIC TRIBUTES. IRREPARABLE LOSS. MAN OF SIMPLE TASTES. LIVED FOR THE PEOPLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. After the announcement of Mr. Savage's death, official brief tribute was made publicly. It briefly traced the late Prime Minister's career from boyhood, and stated that his quiet sincerity, accompanied by his great strength of character, left a deep impression on all whom ho met. During his illness, messages of sympathy were received from all over the Empire, and included a message from the King and Queen and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Mr. Chamberlain.

The tribute concludes: "Mr. Savage had a profound love and regard for New Zealand and its people, and his work for the aged, ailing and young has won 'him the affection and love of thousands of people in the Dominion.

"A man of simple tastes, he was fond of his home and enjoyed nothing more than quiet conversation with his many friends. Those who were closely associated with him feel a sense of irreparable loss. His personality and selflessness and his message of sympathy to all in trouble will keep his memory alive in the hearts of the people."
