"CLARITY OF IDEAL."
TELEGRAM OF SYMPATHY. SENT BY AUCKLAND'S MAYOR. The following telegram was sent to the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, this morning by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis:— "On behalf of the corporation and citizens of Auckland may I tender to you and your sorrowing colleagues an expression of profound sympathy in the irreparable loss your Government and the country have suffered through the death of, the Prime Minister. "The passing of Mr. Savage has deprived New Zealand of a lovable personality, whose sincerity of purpose, clarity of ideal, steadfastness of outlook and indomitable spirit set the seal on a long and distinguished public career. "From my earliest recollections of him, the late Prime Minister had dedicated his life to the service of his fellowmen, devoting unwavering loyalty towards, and sparing neither his ability nor himself in, the fulfilment of that mission.
"Personally I mourn the passing of a man whose friendship over many years is beyond adequate description.
"All sections of the community will be united in grief over this sad event."
