VICTIM IDENTIFIED.

MAN KILLED BY CAR. OLD AGE PENSIONER. The elderly man who was knocked down in Newton Road by a motor car on Monday evening and died in hospital yesterday, has been identified as Mr. Noel Patun Scott, an old age pensioner, aged 69 years. An inquest was opened before Mr. F. K. Hunt this morning, when evidence of identification was given by Basil B. Hawkins, a returned soldier living at 2, Arawa Street. Witness «aid that he had known Mr. Scott for the past 18 years, and lived with him in Arawa Street. He laet saw him alive at 8.30 a.m. on Monday.

The Inquest was adjourned sine die, pending further inquiries by the police, who are endeavouring to get into touch with a sister of the deceased who live* in Balmoral Road, but is believed to be *\ present in the Whangarei district. .
