USE OF DOMAIN — ATHLETICS OR CRICKET
"It Is time we raised a mighty song about -the treatment amateur athletics is getting from the Auckland City Council," said Mr. T- M. Wilson last evening at a jneetiQg of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletjc Association.. The centre had received a letter from the Auckland Amateur Club in which it coniplalped of being refused the use of the Auckland Cricket Ground 'or the purpose of a sports carqlval, Mr. Wilson ■went on to say that when the council kaq taken down the fence around the Domain, it had promised to make provision for amateur sports, hut had done nothing at all. Mr. Wilson's statement was received with hearty applause. Mr. H. L. Towers, the president, paid there was no suitable ground near the city for which a charge could be made, sinee the fence had teen taken away from the Domain. He felt with the other speakers that some strong action should be taken, and he moved that the wfcole question be referred to the executive to plan a conxpaign -to secure rights 'or all sports in the matter of grounds, partieularl}- the City Council ones, which belonged fro the people. Thif was carried wfthout dissent.
