BATTING AVERAGES. \ 0. CLEAL FIRST TO TOP 500. 1 emery and snedden best bowling figures. t Aiter nine series of senior cricket matches O. S. Cleal (Ponsonby-Balinoral) is the first batsman to reach 500 runs this season, but P. E. Wliitelaw (Parnell) and H- T. Pearson (Middlemore) are ailiead of him in the averages. The two men who were on the -thousand mark last summer, W. M. Wallace (Parnell) and V. J. Scott (Y.M.C.A.) have just turned into 200, but, of course, there had been a great deal more play at this stage last year. 11. W. G. Emery (Grafton) has a fractional lead over C. A. Snedden (Eden) in the bowling department, in which mo«t victims have fallen to D. C. Cleverley (Middlemore).
