AUCKLAND RUNNING WELL. TWO WINS ON WEDNESDAY. "ALL SQUARE" WITH WANGANUI. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Wnngannl and Auckland, with two wins ench, are leading in the Cornwell Cup conest. Wellington was expected to do well, but has only one win to its credit. The Wellington boat was placed eighth and ninth on Tuesday and did not finish in the fifth race to-day. Her skipper. E. Wagstaff. won the trophy last*year, but has put up a poor performance this year in light winds. The fourth nice was sailed over a triangular course to-day. At. the end of the first lap Christchurcli led from Auckland. Lyttelton and Wellington. The second round developed Into ,a duel between Auck-' land and Cliristeliurch. Auckland finishing 31s Jn the lead. Cliristchurch was later disqualified for a brencli in a tussle with Auckland. Tlje placings were: Auckland 1, Lyttelton 2, Wanganui 3. Wellington 4, Hamilton 5, Manukau (5. Otago 7, Timaru 8, Tauranga !). PUmmerton 10. The liftli race resulted In a drifting match toward the finishing line, the breeze dropping away. Auckland crossed the Hue first, followed closely by Wanganui. with Christchurcli third and I'limmerton fourth. The other competitors did not complete the course. Wellington entered a protest Against Wanganui. Tauranga Class. Nelson won the Tauranga championship With 410.0 points, Wellington being second With 373.2. West Coast third with 3(il.fi and Tauranga fourth with 331.30. The fifth race for this class was sailed on a windward and leeward course. The placlngi* were: Wellington 1. Nelson 2, West Const 3 t Tauranga 4. Won by 475. As a result of the protest lodged in connection with the second race sailed yesterday morning the committee decided that it should be resailed. The race, which was decided over a triangular course, resulted as follows: Nelson 1. Tauranga 2, West Coast 3, Wellington 4. Won by one second. Idle Along. Putting up a surprising performance, Wanganui won the Idle Along race this afternoon by f>Rs from Canterburv. with Wellington in third pilnce. lm 7s' behind Canterbury. Bay of Plenty, . which was expected to win. finished fourth. The placings were: Wangnnnl 1, Canterburv 2, Wellington 3. Bay or Plenty 4. Marlborough 5. Nelson 6. South Canterbury 7. Hawke's Bay 8, West Coast 9, South Auckland 10, Otago 11.

Wellington Is still the Idle Along leader, as n result of to-da.v's races, with 19 points. Canterbury is next with 17. Bay of Plenty third with 15 and Wanganui fourth with 14.
